Description
As the country responds to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the role of the home health industry in ensuring the delivery of safe home health care has not been fully appreciated by our health care community and governing regulatory bodies. Various elements contribute to the problems home health agencies have encountered in being able to meet the needs of this patient population including challenges with obtaining and sustaining adequate PPE, shortages of home health nurses, and lack of adequate resources for employee and patient COVID19 testing supplies.
As we journey through the response phase of this pandemic emergency, this session will discuss the importance of agencies continuing to have a monitoring and control plan to ensure staff and patient safety and delivery of patient care. We will also discuss the importance of home health providers staying abreast of the most up to date advances in precautions, treatment, and control mechanisms within their clinical operations to minimize the spread of COVID19. Lastly we will discuss the latest information related to COVID19 vaccines, data that discusses their effectiveness, and steps we can take as home health providers to participate in this community-wide mission to distribute these vaccines safely and effectively.

At the end of this course, you should be able to:

- Discuss and updates and current HHA best practices for safe delivery of COVID19 patient care
- Understand the different types of COVID19 Vaccines – doses, storage, administration Identify the process for a HHA to enroll as a COVID19 Vaccine Provider
- Discuss the importance of HHAs role in educating and promoting the COVID19 Vaccine to their staff, healthcare partners, community and patient populations
