Description

Patient falls make up a large number of all sentinel events. According to a Joint Commission review of sentinel events (1995 to 2012) falls are the 6th leading cause of sentinel events and account for 7.6% of all sentinel events. Each year, greater than 1/3 of adults over age 65 will fall. Crucially, many of these falls are preventable. This course has been designed to help you protect patients from falls. It will discuss how balance normally keeps us from falling, risk factors for falls and strategies for preventing falls.
